About Prof. dr. Dennis Vink
This box is designed to give you a brief overview of my teaching / executive development, research, and consulting / thought leadership activities I have been involved with. I have been on the faculty of the Nyenrode Business Universiteit, in the Finance Area, since 2002. I was appointed Director of the Center for Finance in 2010, and Full Professor of Finance and Investment in 2012. My work at Nyenrode consists of managing the Finance department, academic and professional research, and teaching (mostly at the executive level).
Students voted me Professor of the Year in the Executive MBA in 2009. My teaching and executive development interests revolve around corporate finance, structured finance, and investment management. I teach a variety of courses in the MSc, MBA, and executive education programs including introductory course in corporate finance, advanced corporate finance, and international financial markets & instruments. I led management training programs with major corporations, such as ABN AMRO Lease, BAM, Heijmans, Eneco, Eureko / Achmea, Oranjewoud, and ING Real Estate, in the area of investing, international financial markets, and leadership issues.
My main research interests are in understanding structured products, credit ratings, and on how structural features of structured products are changing with a focus on Europe. I have been working with Frank Fabozzi, Professor in the Practice of Finance at Yale, on research for several years. My work has been published by Yale International Center for Finance (led by William Goetzmann), and by the European Financial Management Association, among others. For my research I created an online portal to help students, practioners and academics to obtain information about the role of structured products in international financial markets (dennisvink.nl). For an extensive definition of structured finance, please read the Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structured_finance). My research is also featured in professional outlets, such as de Accountant, het Financiële Dagblad, and NRC Handelsblad on a regular basis.
I also worked on applied research / consultancy projects for ABN-AMRO, Ballast Nedam, Essent, NIBC, Kroymans Corporation, Ministerie van Verkeer & Waterstaat, SHV, and Stork, among others. These projects included asset-backed securitization issues, value-based management and cost of capital issues, to name but a few.
I received a BSc in Accountancy (1997) from Windesheim University, and a Master of Science degree in Financial Management from Nyenrode Business Universiteit (1999) where I also obtained my PhD degree (2007) with a thesis on asset-backed securitization. As an alumni I am a member of the VCV. Additional training was followed through the Tilburg PhD Program in Finance. I am a member of the European Finance Association, European Financial Management Association, and Midwest Finance Association.
